HUNTINGTON — For Marshall’s shorthanded offense, this spring season can’t end too soon.
The Thundering Herd held its second scrimmage Saturday morning, an officiated affair, and the zebras nearly outnumbered the healthy offensive linemen.
And the offense was missing several pieces at wide receiver and running backs. Some of the absences were the out-for-spring variety; others were players held out as a precaution.
Whatever the case, the scrimmage was tough to watch at times. If you knew the attrition, you wouldn’t be surprised that the offense was held to 3.5 yards per play and three short-field touchdowns.
