Anthony Anderson could fill Marshall's 'Rockhead' role

Before coming to Marshall, Anthony Anderson helped Iowa Western reach the 2014 junior college national championship game.

HUNTINGTON — The last time Marshall had a running back quite like big Anthony Anderson was …

Last year.

That was the last year of Devon Johnson’s two-year reign of terror in the Thundering Herd backfield. At 6-foot-1, 244 pounds, Johnson ran for 1,767 yards in 2014 and fought through injury to gain 593 in seven games in 2015. He averaged a cool 7.8 yards per carry.

So is Anderson the next “Rockhead”? As the Herd graduates from helmet and shorts to “shells” for Wednesday’s practices, it’s too early for that.
