In Marquette men’s soccer’s first two matches of this timeshifted spring 2021 season, the Golden Eagles went to overtime in a scoreless tie and then netted the game winner just scant minutes after overtime started.
That didn’t happen against Saint Louis on Saturday evening. Not exactly.
Instead, what happened was Marquette went to a scoreless tie with Saint Louis at the end of 90 minutes, with the Billikens outshooting the Golden Eagles 8-6. Then, less than four minutes into the 10 minute extra session, Beto Soto put a shot on frame....... that was saved by SLU’s Patrick Schulte.
