No. 19 Marquette dropped its first game of the season 63-55 in the semifinal of the Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament against the No. 24 ranked University of Miami Hurricanes Thursday night.
The Hurricanes were in control for most of the game and outscored the Golden Eagles in every quarter except the fourth. Marquette was unable to regain a lead for the rest of the game after the 2:35 mark in the first quarter.
Poor shooting also downed the Golden Eagles, as Marquette shot just 29 percent from the field and 20 percent from beyond the arc.
