New York — On the eve of his team's matchup with Xavier, the No. 2 team in the Big East and No. 5 in the country, Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski reiterated his belief that the Musketeers are a team that can win a national championship.
Xavier lived up to its billing Thursday night, steamrolling Marquette, 90-72, at Madison Square Garden in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament. The Musketeers shredded the Golden Eagles' man-to-man and zone defenses, shooting 53.0%, led by 24 points from sophomore guard Trevon Bluiett.
Marquette found itself battling from behind from the start as Xavier surged to an 11-2 lead.
