Carrie Madden played hero once again for the BIG EAST regular season champion Marquette Golden Eagles. She scored two goals, the second of which was a bicycle kick winner in overtime, to knock off St. John’s in the BIG EAST conference tournament semifinal, 2-1.
After the match, BIG EAST Digital Network’s John Fanta asked Madden how she did it.
“I have absolutely no idea,” Madden said.
St. John’s took the lead in the 29th minute when Shea Connors played through a Cali Pyzdrowski challenge and fired the ball into the far corner of the net.
Madden answered back just six minutes later when she beat two defenders to a Liz Bartels cross to make it 1-1 just before halftime.
