Waaaaaaaaay back on Thursday night, Marquette women’s soccer suffered their fourth loss in their last five matches when #20 Georgetown shut them out, 2-0. With the loss, Marquette is now 8-8-0 overall this season and just 4-5-0 in Big East action. That leaves them with 12 points, and that currently, after Sunday’s action in the league, has the Golden Eagles sitting in seventh place.
Georgetown scored on their third shot of the match, and yes, that shot counter is going to be incredibly relevant in a minute. A dispossession at midfield led to a play down the left sideline, and for a split second it looked like Georgetown was going to fumble this counterattack, but Julia Leas recovered and beat MU keeper Mikki Easter with a shot from the right side of the cage.
