Things did not go Marquette women’s soccer’s way on Sunday afternoon in Omaha as Creighton dominated the course of play and handed the Golden Eagles a 3-0 defeat. Marquette is now 4-2-0 on the year and 2-2-0 in Big East action.
Things weren’t all bad all 90 minutes long for Marquette. Sure, MU keeper Lauren Schill didn’t field a shot by Skylar Heinrich cleanly in the 12th minute to put the Jays up 1-0, but that was the only scoring in the first half and honestly, Marquette’s field defense not being back to give Schill a hand was just as responsible as the vagaries of physics that let the ball through between Schill and the post just inches away from her.
