Chicago — Back in the summer of 2013, it looked like longtime friends and former Milwaukee City Conference rivals Jameel McKay and Deonte Burton were set to play basketball together. Both were at Marquette, with McKay joining the Golden Eagles as a transfer from Indian Hills Community College and Burton entering as a freshman.
But they never played in a game together at Marquette. McKay left for Iowa State before the 2013-'14 season started.
However, that wasn't the end of the story.
In the December 2014, Burton, a 6-foot-4 guard, decided to transfer midway through his sophomore season and he chose Iowa State as well.
