MILWAUKEE -- Tra'Cee Tanner and Brandy Montgomery had double-doubles for Auburn, but a late Marquette rally forced overtime and the Tigers fell 70-69 Sunday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
The Tigers (6-2) led by as many as nine points midway through the fourth period, but Marquette (4-5) knocked down three 3-pointers in the final 1:20, including a tying basket with eight seconds left. Meanwhile, the Tigers went cold at the free-throw line and were unable to ice the game despite several opportunities late.
"Foul trouble, missed layups, we go 13-for-30 at the free-throw line, we gave the game away," Auburn head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy said.
