Well, another Big East tournament quarterfinal round has come and gone, and Marquette lost for the seventh consecutive year. This is starting to get moderately annoying.
Anyway.
The tournament rolls on today with the two semifinal games at Madison Square Garden. It’s kind of a whacky four-pack of teams squaring off, as top seeded Villanova was the only one of the top four seeds in the tournament to advance. #2 Butler, #3 Providence, and #4 Marquette (sigh) all got bumped off, leading to the games we get this evening. The second semifinal may be the most fascinating one, as it’s a matchup of the league’s two teams that were on track to easily skate into the NCAA tournament before they both lost their point guards to ACL injuries.
