Ashley Young has thrown down the gauntlet, at least in a light-hearted manner, in the latest battle to be named Manchester United's Player of the Month.
The no.18 was included on the three-man shortlist to be crowned March's star player after impressing in three different positions in his three starts in three different competitions during the month for the Reds, against Chelsea, Rostov away and Middlesbrough. In an all-round impressive display at the Riverside Stadium last weekend, the Englishman provided an assist for United's opening goal in the 3-1 win, delivering a fine cross from the left flank which was headed in at the back post by Marouane Fellaini.
