Women's World Cup: The story so far

The tournament opened in Paris on Friday evening, when the hosts France swept to a comprehensive 4-0 win over South Korea at Paris Saint-Germain’s Parc des Princes.

There were wins for Norway, Germany and Spain on Saturday against Nigeria, China and South Africa respectively, before Italy overcame Australia with a late winner and Brazil beat Jamaica on Sunday.

But United fans had to wait for the weekend's final contest to catch a glimpse of our players, with Casey Stoney’s title-winning outfit well represented in Group D’s opening clash between England – managed by Treble hero Phil Neville – and Scotland.
