When Real Madrid and Barcelona get transfers wrong, including Ibrahimovic, Woodgate and Vermaelen

This isn't to say the Man United striker is rubbish, but at Barcelona Ibrahimovic proved to be an expensive mistake even if he did score some spectacular goals. He lasted for one season before he was moved on in 2010, first on loan at Milan before the deal was made permanent. The club paid Inter £40m and also gave the Italian side Samuel Eto’o as part of the transfer, but Ibrahimovic couldn’t settle and adapt at Barcelona because he wasn’t the focal point of the attack. In 2009, that was Lionel Messi’s role. Ibrahimovic was – is – a great player, but a total waste of money for the Catalan giants.
