The fact the tournament starts on 21 November means the English top flight will pause after 16 rounds of matches, on the weekend of 12/13 November. Players will then head off to link up with their respective countries to prepare for the finals.

To help facilitate the huge change in scheduling, the campaign will begin on 6 August, earlier than usual.

The World Cup action draws to a close on 18 December, with the final being held at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Only eight days later, on Boxing Day (26 December), the Premier League will resume with the traditional festive fixtures.
