Manchester United legend Paul Scholes had revealed how the club came agonisingly close to snapping up Ronaldinho in 2003 - with officials even allocating the Brazilian star a shirt number.
The Red Devils looked nailed on to secure the signing of the exciting midfielder from PSG, before he made a U-turn and opted to join Barcelona.
Ronaldinho went on to enjoy a superb stint with the Catalan outfit - winning the LaLiga title twice and the Champions League.
Speaking Robbie Savage on his Savage Social podcast, he admits how the United players had been eager for the Brazilian to join their ranks, adding that the club were close to announcing the signing.
