Wayne Rooney will leave Manchester United at the end of the season despite insisting on Thursday night he is staying at Old Trafford.
The striker ended a week of uncertainty, that saw his agent Paul Stretford fly to Beijing to discuss a move to the Chinese Super League, by releasing a statement confirming he is staying put.
'Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I'm grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United,' said Rooney. 'I hope I will play a full part in helping the team in the fight for success on four fronts.
