Wayne Rooney leaving for China would be madness, he still has plenty to do in Europe, insists former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane

It would be 'madness' if Wayne Rooney left Manchester United for China, according to former team-mate Roy Keane.

The United captain's agent Paul Stretford was in China on Wednesday night to hold talks with Super League clubs Beijing Guoan, Tianjian Quanjian and Jiangsu Suning who are attempting to sign Rooney before the close of their transfer window on Tuesday.

However, Keane believes the 31-year-old still has plenty to offer the European leagues and does not need the financial rewards on offer in China.
