Wayne Rooney insists ex-Manchester United team-mate Ravel Morrison was 'very misunderstood'

Wayne Rooney has passionately insisted that Ravel Morrison is 'very misunderstood', leaping to the defence of his former team-mate after taking him on trial at Derby.

Morrison, a free agent after leaving Dutch second-tier side ADO Den Haag in January, played in a 2-1 friendly defeat against his old club Manchester United on Sunday.

And after the game Rooney claimed the midfielder has very quickly hit the ground running, and improved the standards in training despite being out of the game since the start of 2021.
