Manchester United's Reserves almost completed a remarkable comeback in a friendly match away to Brentford's B team on Saturday.
The Griffin Park encounter went the way of the hosts for the opening hour as Chris Mempham scored twice and Herson Alves also beat Reds goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara.
However, a sweet curler by United's in-form left-back Joe Riley (no.5) pulled one back and fit-again midfielder Sean Goss (no.6) smashed home seven minutes later to spark hopes the visitors could get back on level terms. Riley was unfortunately unable to convert a Charlie Scott cross in stoppage time, leaving the majority of fans in the four-figure crowd to celebrate an entertaining 3-2 victory for the Bees.
