After a week when we paid tribute to one of the giants of the world game in Sir Bobby Charlton and also covered current England youth internationals, it feels timely to take a look at Manchester United's rich heritage in this area.
Sir Bobby, who is 79 today (11 October),was an England Schoolboys superstar back in 1953, playing four times while still registered as a pupil from East Northumberland, with all the major clubs across the country keen to snap him up.
Other names to jump from the record books over that period are Duncan Edwards (who played in 1950, 1951 and 1952) and David Pegg.
