The draw for the tournament took place on Monday, with the northern section being split into two groups.
United are in Group A with Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle.
The Reds were in the same group as two of those teams - Liverpool and Everton - last term, and beat Newcastle in the Women's FA Cup at Leigh Sports Village.
The Magpies are new to the League Cup this season, after being promoted to the Championship at the end of last season.
United will be aiming to reach at least the knockout stages this term and, with Marc Skinner's side winning the Women's FA Cup for the first time in our history, we have a taste for silverware.
