The exhibition game, which officially kicked off the junior tournament, the Statsport SuperCupNI, is one of two matches that Neil Wood's side will play in Northern Ireland, along with Monday’s friendly against Northern Irish Premiership outfit Ballymena United (kick-off 19:30 BST).
Ahead of the game, Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill took to the pitch and shook hands with both teams in front of a packed crowd at the Showgrounds, with the match also broadcast live on BBC Sport NI.
United made a fast start against Rangers when things got underway and created the first major chance of note through Ethan Laird, who picked the ball up from deep and drove past two Rangers defenders before his shot from an acute angle was well saved by opposition goalkeeper Kieran Wright.
