United finish Otten Cup as runners-up

Manchester United’s Under-19s reached the final of the Otten Cup in Eindhoven on Sunday afternoon but finished as runners-up after losing on penalties to Anderlecht.

Watched by Academy chief Nicky Butt and coach Tommy Martin, the young Reds were held 0-0 by their Belgian counterparts in normal time, despite dominating the proceedings and threatening to score through Callum Gribbin, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong. The latter was on the receiving end of two bookable fouls by Anderlecht's Loau, who was consequently sent off towards the end of the first half.

The resulting shoot-out went into a sudden-death situation after both teams scored three of their initial five penalties.
