UEFA have moved to calm fears of violence at Manchester United’s Europa League clash with Zorya Luhansk in Odessa.
United have written to their supporters warning of safety concerns surrounding the game following serious crowd trouble when Fenerbahce and Feyenoord played their Group A ties in the Black Sea port.
They have been told to watch out for Eastern European gangs as well as rival Zorya fans after Fenerbahce supporters were attacked by axe-wielding thugs, and a cafe where the Turks were drinking was set on fire.
But up to a thousand United fans are still expected to travel to Odessa where Zorya have been playing their European games in exile while Luhansk, more than 500 miles away, remains a no-go area due to the civil war between Russian-backed rebels and government forces.
