Tottenham keen on Chris Smalling after impressing on loan at Roma, with Jose Mourinho eyeing reunion with Manchester United defender

Jose Mourinho is set to make a summer bid for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, according to reports in Italy.

Smalling has impressed during a season-long loan spell at Roma but is yet to agree a permanent move to the club as the Serie A side haggle over his transfer fee.

The Daily Express claim Roma want to pay £14 million for Smalling in order to ensure they don't breach Financial Fair Play rules but United are holding out for £17m.
