Tottenham 1-0 Manchester United: Maddison strike lifts spirits of protesting Spurs fans as United rue missed chances

Manchester United were left to rue missed chances as a first-half James Maddison strike guided Spurs to a long-awaited home win.

On a day shrouded by fan frustration, Maddison lifted Spurs spirits as he broke the deadlock inside 13 minutes, getting to the rebound first after Lucas Bergvall's shot was saved by Andre Onana.

And despite both teams coming close to adding to the scoreline throughout the contest, Maddison's goal proved the difference as Ange Postecoglou's side leapfrogged United in the table.
