Gareth Southgate has cast major doubt over the World Cup chances of Manchester United pair Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho just five months before the tournament kicks off.
Rashford, who was part of Southgate's squad for the previous World Cup and Euro 2020, and Sancho, who was also named in last summer's European Championships party, were not included in Southgate's latest group for June's four Nations League fixtures.
There is just one more international get-together - in September - before Southgate names his final squad for Qatar 2022.
And in response to a question about whether United's failure to qualify for the Champions League could physically benefit his Old Trafford contingent - which also includes Harry Maguire - ahead of the World Cup, Southgate answered: 'We've only got one with us [Maguire]!
