'There is a looming nightmare economically for EFL clubs': Gary Neville warns lower league sides face financial 'carnage' in coming months because of the coronavirus shutdown after Huddersfield owner warned '50 or 60' clubs could go bust as a result

Gary Neville fears a financial crisis is heading for Football League clubs as soon as the start of next season citing a lack of support from the Premier League.

Neville part owns League Two outfit Salford City along with many of his former Manchester United team-mates.

But he claims with so much focus on protecting the top flight many are turning a blind eye to the crippling financial situation in the leagues below as a result of the coronavirus which has halted all fixtures since March.

'From day one, I’ve said it will be July, August, September, October when the real pressure comes,' Neville told the Football Show on Sky Sports.
