'The under-appreciated English prince' - Michael Carrick turned on the style in his Manchester United farewell

Mr Underrated. Michael Carrick, in his last ever game, continued to be just that.

Unwilling to play out a token farewell against Watford, Carrick plucked a performance straight from the 2012/13 collection.

With the scores tied at 0-0, the 36 year-old released Juan Mata with a trademark ball over the top, who then found Marcus Rashford for the game's only goal.

It was a special moment on an emotional day. Each Carrick pass tugged on the heartstrings of those at Old Trafford.

And many fans took to social media to thank the United legend for his 12 years at the club.
