The Saints kicked off against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side at 2pm, but many supporters were still stranded outside at St Mary's after the whistle.
The club was forced to apologise in a tweet, blaming the problem on turnstile issues, and later stated they would offer affected fans a full refund for the inconvenience.
We would like to apologise to fans attempting to gain entry to the stadium, and thank them for their patience.
