Sophie Thornhill continued Great Britain’s domination of the velodrome in Rio with the country’s fourth gold in the opening five events — then stated her life would be complete if she were allowed to parade with her medal at Old Trafford.
At the Olympics last month Britain were largely untouchable as they raced to 11 medals in the velodrome and the Paralympians have followed their lead.
Thornhill, who is partially sighted, and pilot Helen Scott claimed victory in the women’s B 1,000m time trial, atoning for their disappointment at finishing second at the world championships earlier this year.
