Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton has expressed his sadness at the news that his former England team-mate Ray Wilson has passed away at the age of 83.
Sir Bobby and Ray were part of Sir Alf Ramsey’s England team who claimed a memorable World Cup triumph in 1966, beating West Germany 4-2 in the final at Wembley.
Former Everton and Huddersfield Town full-back Wilson had been battling Alzheimer's disease.
Sir Bobby has released the following statement:
“Lady Norma and I are deeply saddened by the awful news that Ray has passed away.
