Sean Longstaff admits he's 'over the moon' after signing a new three-year deal with boyhood club Newcastle with the homegrown talent expected to be a key part of Eddie Howe's rejuvenated squad at St James' Park

Newcastle's Sean Longstaff has ended speculation linking him with a move away from St James' Park by signing a new three-year deal with his boyhood club.

The 24-year-old graduated from the Newcastle academy in 2016 and, after loan spells at Kilmarnock and Blackpool, has made 95 appearances for the Magpies.

Manchester United were once interested in signing the midfielder, and he had recently been linked with West Brom and Watford.

Speaking to Nufc.co.uk, Longstaff said: 'I'm over the moon. To sign for three more years at your hometown club - especially with the way the club's going and what the owners are putting in place - is really special for me and my family, and a day I'll never forget.
