Scott McTominay is being wasted in defence for Scotland, admits boss Steve Clarke... as he insists he needs to find a way of slotting him back into midfield after impressing for Manchester United

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has admitted that after Scott McTominay's impressive form for Manchester United, he may need to find a spot for him in midfield.

The 24-year-old has been playing as part of a three man defence for his country; but following his brace during Manchester United's 6-2 demolition of Leeds, his national team boss wants to play him further forward.

Clarke who successfully lead Scotland to the next summer's European Championships; told Sky Sports that he feels he's 'wasting' McTominay in defence.

'Scott's been great, I'm probably wasting him playing at centre half, but he's so adaptable and positive, he's got a confidence about him which I think rubs off on everybody around him.
