'Scott McTominay clearly wants summers off’ – Joey Barton on Manchester United starlet's decision to choose Scotland over England

Joey Barton has joked that Scott McTominay chose to represent Scotland over England because he ‘clearly wants summers off’.

The 21-year-old Manchester United midfielder ended the speculation over his international allegiance this weekend by revealing he will play in Scottish blue.

McTominay was born in Lancaster but qualifies for Scotland through his Glaswegian father.

The Red Devils starlet, who has impressed in several appearances for the first-team this season, said on Sunday that he has followed his heart to commit his future to the Tartan Army.
