Footballer Chris Smalling’s Italian home has been broken into for the third time.
Defender Smalling, 33, and his young family were not thought to have been at home when the gang got into the house via a window.
They were spotted by a member of staff and a surveillance camera linked to an alarm system but had vanished by the time police arrived at the house in the suburbs of Rome.
Smalling and his family were talking to police about the items stolen which were thought to have include cash and jewellery – while an attempt was also made to remove a safe from the property.
