Having been completely ill-suited to managing one of the world's biggest football clubs - even on an interim basis - we won't now discover whether Ralf Rangnick could have improved Manchester United behind the scenes.
The 63-year-old German will not be staying on in the consultancy position that nobody had got around to properly defining and apparently would have only occupied him for six days in every month.
For all the United fans quick to label Rangnick as a 'fraud' on social media after Sunday's exit announcement, few are actually going to be too disappointed the club has drawn a line under this total disaster of an appointment.
