Ralf Rangnick reveals Scott McTominay was ruled out of Manchester United's crunch Champions League clash at Atletico Madrid through illness, as he admits 'we had a little bit of hope that he might be available'

Ralf Rangnick revealed Scott McTominay has missed Manchester United's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid tonight through illness.

United fell behind just minutes into the game at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium through Joao Felix's header, to add to the misery of their midfielder missing out.

Paul Pogba, Fred and Bruno Fernandes were instead selected by the club's interim manager, whose hand was forced with his enforcer not able to participate.

'He's [McTominay] ill unfortunately,' Rangnick told MUTV.

'I spoke with him this afternoon and he's still not feeling well.
