Those behind the Qatar-based bid for Manchester United do not believe they will face any government opposition should they succeed in the battle for the Premier League giants.
A report surfaced earlier on Tuesday which claimed that government officials had privately flagged concerns over the prospect of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani taking ownership of the club.
Those reservations were said to relate to previous regulatory failings at the UK branch of the Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), of which Sheikh Jassim has been chairman since 2006.
And the report, from Bloomberg, added that ‘senior officials working on football governance’ may put pressure on the Premier League to ask questions should the bid be the one chosen by the Glazer family.
