Plymouth chairman breaks his silence on Wayne Rooney's future - after reports claimed former Man United icon had TWO games to save his job

Plymouth Argyle chairman Simon Hallett has rubbished reports that Wayne Rooney is facing the sack by the Championship club.

Rooney, 39, has come under pressure in recent days after Plymouth were thrashed 4-0 by Bristol City on Saturday, which came after they were beaten 6-1 by Norwich on Tuesday.

The Pilgrims sit 21st in the Championship, just one place and two points clear of the relegation zone.

Reports then emerged that the Man United icon was fighting to save his job, with Plymouth's next two games against Oxford and Swansea said to be crucial as to whether the 39-year-old remains in his role.
