Polish forward Lewandowski was Dortmund’s talisman, the man they relied on for goals. He was their top scorer for three consecutive seasons, including 2011/12 when he fired them to the Bundesliga title and the following year where the German club reached the Champions League final. Aubameyang arrived in 2013 and played a wider role as Lewandowski remained the club’s main forward. He left for Bayern Munich the following summer and Aubameyang eased the loss by stepping up and taking responsibility in a more central role, scoring 25 goals. He has been the top scorer in both seasons since and already has 30 to his name in 2016/17.
