One of eight men suing Manchester City has told a judge that paedophile Barry Bennell was ‘shooed away’ from Manchester United.
A witness added that he had often seen Bennell behind railings outside the players’ entrance at City’s former Maine Road home in an area reserved for footballers and officials on matchdays.
At the High Court, a group of eight are suing City for damages after being abused by Bennell, who they say was a City scout, and six are also claiming loss of earnings.
City’s lawyers say Bennell was not a scout at the time and nor did he have any relationship with the club akin to employment during the period concerned — 1979 to 1985.
