Nicky Butt is in line for a swift return to coaching after an acrimonious departure from Manchester United, with Derby County manager Wayne Rooney ready to recruit him for the Championship club.
A report on Wednesday in The Athletic said Butt left amid friction with United's newly appointed football director John Murtough, with the duo having differing footballing views. Butt also allegedly felt overlooked for the technical director role that was recently awarded to his former United team-mate, Darren Fletcher.
Murtough recently stepped up into his newly created role from head of football development, essentially making him Butt's superior with the former midfielder in the head of first-team development position.
