Newcastle's reported interest in Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has taken a hit as the midfielder does not want to join them for competitive reasons.
The Magpies have reportedly enquired about the Germany international but he is reluctant to move because he wants to compete for trophies at the highest level.
Bayern are gunning for a 12th consecutive Bundesliga title and are in the last 16 of the Champions League whereas Newcastle are 10th in the Premier League and out of Europe.
