Shaka Hislop feels Michael Carrick offers balance for Man United, but should Jose Mourinho be looking elsewhere?

Michael Carrick has signed a new one-year deal at Manchester United, the club confirmed on Saturday night.

The midfielder, who will turn 36 in the summer, was due to be out of contract at the end of the season that just concluded.

But ahead of his testimonial on June 4, he has signed an extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2018 for a 12th season at the club.

"What a fantastic way to finish off the season, with a new trophy in our cabinet," said Carrick.
