Manchester United's 114-year connection to Scotland ends with Donald Love's departure

When Donald Love joined Sunderland from Manchester United last week, it ended an association with Scotland stretching back over 100 years.

The 21-year-old defender's exit means for the first time since United were formed in 1902, there is no Scot either in the playing squad or at the helm of the club.

Arguably the two biggest icon's in United's proud history are Scottish. Sir Alex Ferguson was born in Govan, near Glasgow while Sir Matt Busby was born in Belshill.
