Ryan Giggs' wait to be given his managerial debut is set to continue with Wigan ready to appoint Warren Joyce as their new manager.
The Latics have been without a boss since Tuesday when they decided to sack Gary Caldwell following a disappointing start to their Championship season.
As revealed by Sportsmail, Giggs had emerged as the front runner for role but has now been surpassed by current Manchester United Under 21 manager Joyce.
Joyce has been in charge of the Red Devils' second string since 2008 – first in a co-managerial role with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before taking the reins fully two years later.
