Manchester United trigger one-year contract extension to keep Ashley Young at the club until 2019

Manchester United have triggered a 12-month contract extension to keep in-form England international Ashley Young at Old Trafford until 2019.

Young, 32, has been one of Jose Mourinho's stand-out players this season and was named in Gareth Southgate's squad last week to face Holland and Italy in pre-World Cup friendlies.

A member of United's last Premier League title winners under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, Young's contract was due to end this summer until the club decided to take up their option of an extra year.
