Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on a six-month loan deal.
The 23-year-old becomes the first signing for Steve Bruce in the January transfer window with the former Hull City manager looking to fire the Villans towards the Championship play-off places.
He is expected to provide competition for Mark Bunn and Pierluigi Gollini, neither of whom have been convincing in goal this season.

Johnstone has not played a single minute of competitive football under Jose Mourinho after remaining the third-choice option behind David de Gea and Sergio Romero.
